2020 Summer Camps

Jun. 22, 2020

The VSA board is beyond excited to announce that we are working hard to bring soccer back to your family and eventually your community.

As today is the first day of PHASE 4, we are technically allowed by the provincial government to return to soccer activities. However, the Saskatchewan Soccer Association, as well as the Canada Soccer Association, has put in place more steps to ensure the safety of your kids and our coaches on our return to play.

There is a four phase program for us to adhere to, and we are beginning at phase one, which is distance training, no contact.

The VSA board is working hard and diligently to cross all of our necessary items off the list before we pursue anything further.

At first (mid July), we will be offering a two or three week camp (one session per week) that will be organized, set up, and implemented with social distance regulations in effect. That means that the kids will be two metres apart at all times. It doesn’t sound ideal, but it is the best we can do at this point.

There will still be passing, running, dribbling, and fun.

The second phase of this plan is a low contact mode, where all contact is heavily controlled and even mostly discouraged. But in this phase their will be some 1v1 and 3v3 action allowed finally. The length of the camp we will offer in this phase isn’t known yet, as it will depend on what SSA and CSA decide.

The third phase will allow for more live action and up to 7v7, which means possibly some small sized scrimmages.

By the time that indoor season is set to begin, we should be back to full games and regular contact, but at this point it’s impossible to promise anything.

For the foreseeable future, however, the coaches or managers will be disinfecting the balls, equipment, and the kid’s hands and cleats before each session begins. Each kid will be instructed to bring a white and dark shirt to each session, and us coaches will do our utmost to keep your children and ours safe while returning to the sport we all love.

We would love to invite any willing coaches to help us to facilitate these camps. If you are interested and would like more information and to apply, please e-mail vsainfo@valleysoccer.ca.

As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at any time. The Covid-19 situation is continuously evolving, please watch your e-mails and stay in contact with us via our website and Facebook page, as we are doing our best to keep you informed and up to date as we progress through the planning for our return to soccer in the Valley.

Thank you,
