Red Card Information and Reports

Red Card Information and Reports

Disciplinary Action for Red Cards
As per the IFAB Laws of the Game, if a player receives a red card, the player will have an automatic suspension of one game. Not only is the player ejected from the current game, but the player will suspended for the following scheduled game. If the incident is deemed severe enough by the referee or the VSA executives based upon the referees report, a disciplinary meeting will be held prior to the player’s next game to determine if additional suspension is required.  This meeting will be to confirm how many game suspensions the player will be required to adhere to.  In order for this to happen, the referee will be required to submit a report describing the incident causing a red card to be shown.  This report will have to be submitted within 24 hours of the incident.  The player and coach are also required to complete red card incident reports.  These reports are to be submitted by email to: vsainfo@valleysoccer.ca (See attachments below for incident reports).

Once the reports have been received, the coach and the player may be called for a disciplinary meeting.  The meeting will be held with a minimum of two of the VSA executive members.  The decision for additional suspension will be made based on the ref’s report, IFAB Laws of the Game, the VSA Rules of Play, VSA policies, and the VSA Executives discretion based upon the severity of the incident.

Once the number of game suspensions has been determined, the town representative will be contacted, along with the referees officiating the games that are to be missed.  If the player dresses, or steps on the field (or has deceivingly been found to have changed their jersey #), the team will forfeit their game and be open to additional disciplinary action.
